Spring Season Tribal Fishery Announcement

Today, the Columbia River Tribes made the following change to their spring fisheries and the Columbia River Compact concurred:

The Zone 6 Platform and Hook-and-line Fishery

The tribes will allow commercial sales of Zone 6 Platform and Hook and Line caught fish with the following rules:

  • Time: 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 6 through 6:00 PM Thursday, July 31, 2013. (Fall season rules beginning August 1 will be set later)
  • Area: All of Zone 6
  • Gear: Hoop nets, Dipnets, and Hook-and-line.
  • Allowable Sales: Salmon, steelhead, shad, walleye, carp, catfish, bass, and yellow perch may be sold or kept for subsistence. Sturgeon between 43-54 inches fork length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained only for subsistence use. Sturgeon between 38-54 inches fork length in the Bonneville Pool may also be retained only for subsistence use.
  • Misc. Rules: Sanctuaries for these gear types are in effect.

At this time, tribal bank fisheries downstream of Bonneville remain closed.
