Production Coordinator
(John Day Mitigation)
The Hatchery Production Coordinator (John Day Mitigation) works with
tribal policy makers and staff to develop and implement a hatchery mitigation
program consistent with tribal objectives. The Hatchery Program Coordinator
works in regional processes to monitor regional hatchery production and
implement tribal initiatives.

| Essential Job Functions |
Specific
duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Recommends hatchery mitigation levels by reviewing technical
analysis.
- Reviews existing and new hatchery mitigation programs and production
goals for consistency with conservation objectives and legal obligations.
- Provide lead in developing a new hatchery production program
and facility plan for the John Day mitigation program.
- Identifies needs for improvement in existing mitigation facilities
by conferring with technical colleagues and visiting existing
facilities.
- Identifies new opportunities for mitigation.
- Develops $4M capital construction budget for John Day mitigation
projects at existing and new mitigation facilities.
- Oversees progress of capital construction projects.
- Represent tribal interests in regional hatchery coordination
processes.
- Coordinates with tribal staff in developing a comprehensive
hatchery mitigation program.
- Participates in the U.S. vs. Oregon Production Advisory Committee
and other regional hatchery coordination processes.
- Prepares written reports on progress of mitigation program.

| Job Requirements/Qualifications |
- A Masters Degree in biological sciences or related field is
required. Appropriate work experience may be substituted for formal
education.
- Knowledge of hatchery mitigation programs.
- Experience in developing and tracking budgets.
- In addition, the following qualifications are desired:
•
Knowledge of tribal treaty fishing rights.
• Experience with developing and managing large budgets.
• Ability to communicate effectively with policy makers,
legal staff and technical staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively with representatives from
other agencies.
• Ability to resolve conflict and build consensus.
• Tribal preference.

| Must
be able to travel as needed. Most travel is in Oregon, Washington
and Idaho. The demands of the work may result in periods of high stress. |
