Fishery
Technician III
The position offered is associated with the Commission’s Production,
Research, and Restoration Group. This research group is now engaged in
several stock composition, identification, and structure investigations.
As well, the group is involved in describing, developing, and quantitatively
evaluating restoration strategies for Pacific salmon. The Technician will
be assigned to one or several of these projects and will work in both
laboratory and field settings. The position is subject to availability
of funds.

| Essential Job Functions |
Specific
duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Fish capture and identification, data collection, and biological
sampling.
- Data entry using commercial and custom computer applications.
- Age analysis using fish scales.
- Assisting in data analysis and report writing.
- Operating a jet boat in large rivers.

| Job Requirements/Qualifications |
- Experience collecting natural resource data in the field. A
bachelor’s degree in fisheries or a related field will substitute
for work experience.
- Familiarity with biological research, data analyses, and the
ability to execute detailed technical procedures. Specific knowledge
in deploying, recording and managing data related PIT tagging,
and experience in scale pattern analysis is preferred.
- Experience with computer applications and data management.
Specifically knowledge entering, navigating and analysis using
Access databases.
- Ability to work effectively and positively in field, office,
and laboratory settings.
- A valid driver’s license, good driving record, and the
ability to lift and carry objects weighting at least 30 pounds.
- Experience operating boats (jet boats, others) in large rivers.
Oregon Boater certified.
