Celilo Park, across the freeway from Celilo Village will be the setting for the Wy·Kan·Ush·Pum Village. This village will be set up on the banks of the Columbia River and include at least a several tepees and a canvas longhouse. Inside the longhouse will be tribal, museum, and environmental organization exhibits highlighting the history and importance of Celilo Falls, tribal salmon culture, and Columbia River health. By learning more about tribal salmon culture and the important fishing site that was Celilo Falls, we hope to encourage visitors to explore how salmon affect all our lives today and to prevent the kind of environmental and cultural destruction exemplified by the inundation of Celilo Falls from ever happening again.
