bio
"My
life has followed the trail of independent study, from learning
traditional carving techniques and style, to exploring contemporary
methods and abstract form. My inspiration comes from legends
and myths of Northwest coast art.
"My creations are a reflection of the beauty surrounding
us. They are inspired by the reverence of the earth from
all ancient cultures. In the solitude of our magnificent
forests, I spent almost 30 years as a woodsman. The shed
elk and deer antlers found there became visions for expressing
my great respect for our land and heritage. Being self-taught,
I find no limits to bind my creativity. The raw materials
give me a vivid picture of what the piece will be scuplted
into. I don't judge the idea; I just carve it.
"I've always considered the forest home to many spirits,
both mythical and actual, and can best relay that feeling
through my abstract art."
