bio
At
a young age, Jim Jackson's imagination was captured
by the outdoors, but it was southern Oregon's rock
outcroppings, meandering streams, vast timber stands, and
abundant wildlife that captured his soul. While in his late
teens, he gained a sense of 'being' through
his art.
Jackson is never quite sure what he is going to make before
he breaks open a block of clay. All he'll say is that
he shapes a familiar face somewhere in the world.
" The idea and strength behind my sculptures is based
on my belief that life inhabits all things on earth and
in the sky. Special to me are the many powerful and spiritual
rock formations in the Klamath Basin. My 'rock spirit' sculptures
are my contemporary way of bringing the people, the life--the
spirit out of the rock."
