Vivian is a member of the Paluus, Wishxum, and Yakama tribes. She is a cultural teacher and basket weaver. She was given her mother's name "Stu yat" as an adult because she learned many of the traditional skills that her mother practiced, included beading, weaving, tradtional food gather, and preserving.
