Elmer Crow, Jr. is a Nez Perce elder who creates a variety of traditional tribal items, including the káplac, or war club. He is most renowned for his bighorn sheep horn bows, being the last Nez Perce elder who can create these rare and coveted weapons. He does not create his items for sale, making this káplac particularly noteworthy.
Elmer was born and raised on the Nez Perce reservation, learning traditional craft techniques from his elders. He uses many of the items that he creates, particularly his hand-tied fishnets and flintknapped knives.
